Introduction:
By slowing the growth and spread of the herpes virus, the Acycolvir which is an antiviral drug helps the body to fight the infection. It simply reduces or lessens the symptoms of the infection but does not cure it. Acycolvir is a crystalline powder having a molecular formula of C8H11N5O3 and a molecular weight of 225, a solubility of 2.5 mg/mL in water at 37°C along with pKa's of 2.27 and 9.25. Under the brand name of Generic Zovirax, it is available in the form of capsules, tablets, cream and suspension.
Containing50 mg of acycolvir along with cetostearyl alcohol, mineral oil, poloxamer 407, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, water, and white petrolatum, the Generic Generic Zovirax Cream stops the viral replication and is used for treating the cold sores, caused by the herpes virus, on the face or lips.
Dosage:
Dosage should be as per the instructions of your doctor. But, generally, the Generic Zovirax Cream should administered 5 times in a day. The medication should be taken following the onset of signs and symptoms of the viral infection of herpes. The therapy should be continued for 4 days. The dosage is same for adolescents of 12 years of age and older.
Administration:
However, the Generic Zovirax Cream may be applied on the outside of the lips but it should not be applied in or near the eyes, or inside the nose or mouth. The cream should be applied with your fingers
